The SocketScan S370, is a data capture platform that supports 1D and 2D barcode scanning as well as NFC Reading and Writing, designed to facilitate mobile wallet applications via on screen scanning or tap-and-go NFC Reading. It combines the latest 13.56 MHz Near Field Communication (NFC) contactless technology with barcode scanning and Bluetooth LE connectivity.
Built for limited counterspace and all-day reliability, the S370's compact form factor is ideal for retail, loyalty, pop-up selling, events, or ticket or ID verification.
The S370 supports the following NFC profiles:
1.Basic Mode (sometimes called HID or human interface device mode or Keyboard Emulation Mode).
2. Smart Reader (default mode).
3.PCSC Coupler Reader/Writer.
(The latter two for customer app development using our CaptureSDK).
The SocketScan S370 Universal NFC & QR Code Mobile Wallet Reader is portable, fits most anywhere, can run on battery or plugged into power, and can read almost any credential. Continuously and easily scans popular 1D and 2D barcodes from paper, label, and screen, like QR Code, PDF417 and Data Matrix. For the NFC/RFID world, the S370 also supports all NFC Forum tag types and devices compliant with the ISO 18092 standard, in addition to ISO 14443 Type A and B smart cards, ISO 15693 tags, MIFARE®, FeliCa®, NPX, and STMicro tags. It complies with both Apple and Google NFC protocol on iPhone and Android devices.
Digital ID / mDL (Mobile Driver's License) Reader: The S370 was created with the new age of digital IDs and mDLs in mind, and simplifies the mDL reading process. Many states and countries have already begun to roll out systems for mDL usage, and Socket Mobile is helping industries such as retail, commercial services, and government move into this new digital ID ecosystem. Ready to read mDL's out of the box, the S370 can read credentials following ISO18013-5, the standard being adopted in many jurisdictions.
Having both QR Code and NFC reading capabilities, the S370 improves user experience and allows retail app providers to choose the types of credentials they want to support. The result is efficient customer experiences when accessing services with mDL or other digital IDs (e.g. to meet entry requirements, store requirements or industry regulations) by hovering or tapping a smart device. They can then use the information on consumer's mobile device to instantly verify age, membership, loyalty and other customer-related services.
